FilmShaft Exclusive: Charisma Carpenter Talks Psychosis, The Expendables and Cordelia Chase
Actress Charisma Carpenter has been able to put some distance between her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel these past few years. Although she’ll never escape the shows completely – she’ll always be Cordelia Chase to a legion of fans – Carpenter has decided to forge a new career in film.
Psychosis is a new British retro psycho-thriller that began life as a short movie in a 1980s horror anthology. Director Reg Traviss took the seed of the idea and wrote a new script. Charisma Carpenter stars as a US writer who having suffered a nervous breakdown in the past, retreats to a country manor with her husband to write her next book.
Charisma Carpenter’s work balance
Charisma Carpenter has revealed how she works hard to balance her working life and time with her son, so she doesn’t become a “frustrated mother”.
The 39-year-old actress and single mother to seven-year-old son Donovan – famous for playing Cordelia in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel – spent six weeks filming new horror movie Psychosis on location in Britain, but she insists it was “rewarding”.
Charisma Carpenter: Ghost Started Film Fire
Charisma Carpenter believes a fire on the set of her new movie Psychosis was started by a ghost.
Charisma plays a successful novelist who is plagued to the point of madness when she moves to the rural English countryside in the film.
The horror movie was shot in a creepy old house in Somerset, south England, where the last witch burnings are believed to have taken place.
Charisma attended the premiere of Psychosis last night looking, if possible, even more beautiful than usual. She was also photographed in London earlier in the day. I’ve added pics from the premiere and the photoshoot to the gallery.

As you can see, I’ve put up a new layout. I wanted something a bit brighter for summer and I think this fits the bill. I looked over everything and didn’t find any problems but if you come across any please let me know. Comments and feedback are welcome.

While in Sydney for the Supanova Fan Expo, Charisma was interviewed by Giles Hardie of The Sydney Morning Herald. It’s a cute interview where she discusses fandom, Wonder Woman, and the accuracy of IMDb.
“Not ready to play Wonder Woman’s Mum” (04:56)
Edit: Thanks to Kelly at Drew Fuller Fan, the interview has been added to the video archive.
