Half-Spanish actress, Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) is set to heat things up with a guest starring role on the hit USA Network series, Burn Notice, airing Thursdays at 9/8c. The talented actress spoke exclusively to Latina.com about her hot new role.
Tell us about your upcoming role on Burn Notice!
Oh my God, so much fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten to say funny lines and funny dialogue, and it’s such a fun role. All of the fun things I got to do with Cordelia over the years, and all of the fun things I got to do with Veronica Mars—it was sort of a call back to those sort of characters and that kind of humor where you get the good zingers, the good one liners!
Your character’s husband is a wanted man and it seems like he’s up to no good. Is your character, Nicki also unscrupulous?
She’s misunderstood, well-meaning and a bit of a victim. Her husband is a high risk target and Nicki is just a trophy wife. She’s the spoiled brat wife who doesn’t understand what’s going on.
What was it like shooting in Miami?
It’s very hot! Those conditions are serious conditions. It’s not for wimps. People who come from L.A. can’t hack it, so because that’s the challenge—if you’re from L.A. you can’t hack it—I had to hack it. But there were days where there was really intense heat.
What’s the coolest thing you got to do on the show?
My character shoots a gun. It was a real gun! The actors on the show handle the guns with such ease and nonchalance. They have complete trust in the prop master, but I’m just terrified of that kind of stuff. I’m a little more cautious, I wanted them to shoot the gun to make sure there was no bullet in the barrel. They were like, ‘well, look, you can see there’s no bullet,’ and I’m like, ‘Shit always happens!’ [Laughs]
Are you guest starring on just one episode?
Yes, it’s episode 11, as it stands. I suspect that if it’s well received that I’ll be back. The chemistry is there with all of us. I would be thrilled to be part of the group again. I think it remains to be seen, but I’m optimistic.
If the producers of Burn Notice ask you to join the show as as series regular, would you accept their offer?
I definitely would take the asking seriously for sure.
