Angel’s Andy Hallet Dies of Heart Failure at 33; Remembered as “Beacon of Love and Laughter”

Andy Hallet, who played suave demon Lorne on Angel, has died after a five-year battle with heart disease, according to his agent. He was 33.

The actor died of heart failure at Cedars Sinai Medical Center Monday, Hallet’s agent and friend Pat Brady told E! Online. Hallet’s father, Dave, was by the actor’s side when he died.

Hallet was from the Cape Cod village of Osterville, Mass., and appeared in more than 70 episodes of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off Angel as Lorne, a friendly demon who hosted and performed karaoke at a demon bar. Angel castmate Charisma Carpenter tells TVGuide.com, “Andy was a beacon of love and laughter.”

Also a musician, Hallet contributed two songs — “Lady Marmalade” and “It’s Not Easy Being Green” — to the Angel: Live Fast, Die Never soundtrack in 2005.

Hallet spent his post-Angel career working on his music and touring the country before being admitted to the hospital three or four times over the last few years. A private funeral will be held in Cape Cod, most likely over the weekend.

New episodes of Greek kick off tonight and if you were wondering whether Charisma would be appearing in any episodes this season, here’s the answer:

I’m hoping we haven’t seen the last of Tegan. Any word on Charisma Carpenter returning to “Greek”? -Rachel
We won’t see Charisma in this batch of episodes, but that doesn’t mean she’s done with the show. There’s always next cycle.

JoBlo.com is reporting that Lionsgate has announced a release date for The Expendables. As the movie has not started filming yet, this is probably subject to change.

We’ve got word today that Lionsgate has set an April 23, 2010 release for the film. That’s a little over a year away (an agonizing year away) and right now it’s only competition is the Chris Rock/Tracy Morgan comedy DEATH AT A FUNERAL.
